Healthy together heals the whole P.E.R.S.O.N.
by engaging the whole church.

A person is more than their material needs and the church is more than just a Sunday gathering. Our Healthy Together program offers a holistic approach to how community members and those in the church can work together to find solutions.

A Deeper Look at Poverty

How can the simple act of generosity, giving, and serving be potentially harmful?
This short video from the Chalmers Center explains how we need to take deeper look into “how” we help people who live in poverty.

HEALTHY HELPING

As a church community, we have a responsibility to help those in need. However, some churches offer services that keep low-resource individuals in a continued state of poverty. Sometimes our “helping” isn’t “healthy.”

“Healthy Helping” is Love INC’s philosophy for transforming the lives of those trapped in poverty, using biblical principles.

Our partners learn the biblical framework on poverty and how to be a part of the solution during our “Healthy Helping” training. We have real conversations to work toward real solutions.

Training is currently available the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

HEALTHY HABITS

Transformation can be achieved through the collaboration of communities striving for a common and desired outcome. Our clients can benefit from acquiring new healthy habits through our class-style trainings. These habits are further reinforced by building new relationships within our community, and with the help of our dedicated mentors.

Individuals in our low-resource communities seek fundamental knowledge and a supportive companion to guide them towards positive changes in their lives.

During our application process, our neighbors will learn healthy decision-making skills and create healthy boundaries through three fundamental classes and almost ten elective classes.

Churches and low-resourced neighbors are collaborating to improve the well-being of our communities.

HEALTHY HELPING TRAINING

“Healthy Helping” is Love INC’s approach to transforming the lives of those who are stuck in cycles of poverty with the help of biblical principles. Together, we can provide a better way of helping those in need. Helping people escape poverty requires a lot of effort and dedication. You can learn how to be a part of the redemptive process that can change a person’s life.

What to expect:
During our time together, we will discuss the best practices for serving individuals that have limited resources. We will use videos and group discussions to learn how to address poverty-related issues without causing harm to the individual or church members. We will also provide a strong roadmap for building a healthier community. One of the tools we use is “Redemptive Compassion,” which we will explain in detail.

The training is scheduled from 9 am to 12 pm on the second Wednesday of each month.

Volunteers Needed

Healthy Habits is the response of the local church to community brokenness. This program will offer essential education and relationships to community members to promote flourishing among the community.

Our Healthy Habits program is opening up to the community starting on January 16th and our community needs individuals like you to join in to create an environment that will promote flourishing and healthy habits in the lives of our neighbors! This program is being run by a cooperation of more than a dozen churches in Clackamas County and will provide a space for our neighbors to evaluate their current life and take steps to live the life God has called them to.

Individuals in this program can serve their neighbors by supporting the following areas of this program:

  • Childcare
  • Hospitality
  • Providing meals
  • Group discussion leaders
  • Trail guides (mentors)
