Gap Ministries

There are many needs that aren’t being met adequately by current resources that churches could provide.  Churches host a GAP Ministry and recruit a volunteer to serve as a Ministry Leader.  Ministry Leaders can coordinate church volunteers to help keep the GAP ministry items organized, fill the requests, and meet with the families when they arrive to pick up their items.  Families access GAP resources by calling the Clearinghouse for a referral. These ministries help families stretch their budget, freeing up resources so they can pay their rent, utilities, or other expenses.

 

Each church can participate in a GAP ministry in any or all of the following ways:

  • Collect product for another church’s GAP ministry by being a “Church of the Month.” Churches can select one month and oneGAP to collect for; or simply list items needed (we would send you a list) in your church bulletins to participate in several GAPS.  Items a church can collect are:
    • Bedding & Blankets: bedding, sheets, blankets, quilts, pillows
    • Bunk beds: volunteer to help build or contribute financially
    • Bicycles: used and repairable bikes
    • Diapers & Wipes: all sizes of baby diapers and containers of wipes
    • Field Projects: volunteer handyman skills or donate materials
    • Firewood:  assist to cut, split, and stack firewood or donate wood to church Firewood Lots
    • Furniture:  beds & dressers, table & chairs, couches, recliners, etc.
    • Household Items: used pots & pans, silverware, plates, bowls, cups, storage containers, utensils, etc.
    • Layette Items: receiving blankets, onsies, bottles, diapers, sleepers
    • Medical Equipment:  New or gently used medical items
    • Prayer Ministry: Prayer partners lifting up the needs of those who are receiving assistance from the church community
    • Non Food Pantry Items:       Paper and Cleaning Supplies  & Personal Needs Items

We Can Help you Fill the Gap!

Through the clearinghouse, Love INC identifies gaps in services and resources in the community, and helps churches develop ministries to "fill the gaps" not being met by community or service agencies.
