A Story Of Hope
A Hopeful Story
*Mary, a new participant in Pathways to Hope transformational ministry called Love INC very upset that she had been suspended from her CNA position. The only wage earner in her home she was anxious about paying her pending rent. We discussed possible resources. She was buoyed a bit by the time the conversation came to a close, we prayed and I asked her to call me later with an update.
Mary called to let me know she was going to drop off an application at an assisted living facility in our area and would we pray for her? Of course we agreed. Then with some shyness she wondered if we might have some pull ups in the non food pantry hosted by the church we rent space from. I answered that the pantry does not carry diapers but I would check. I walked down the hall certain there would not be the coveted item and surely not in the size requested. As I entered the small room in the corner lay one package of size #4 pull ups, the very size needed. As I walked to the phone I had the strongest sense of God’s providential care for this young family embarking on the first steps of faith and knew they were in for a wild ride. She began to cry as she thanked me and said she and her husband would be by later in the day.
Two hours later Mary walked in the office exploding with joy, her husband Rob, after hearing the pampers story agreed to sell his guns, which held sentimental value. Then the punch line, “Will this cover the rent?” I asked. ”Yes, with $15.00 to spare” she replied.
We rejoice with Mary and Rob, God is on the move in the life of a little family in Clackamas County.
